howard berry fcp editor

Here is some more information about me and the productions I have been involved in.

About Me:I have been working as a freelance editor and post-production generalist for over six years. Since 2007 I have also been an Apple Certified Trainer in Final Cut Pro. I am Deputy Programme Leader and lecturer in Post-Production at the University of Hertfordshire, where I also manage AATCe Hertfordshire - the Apple Authorised Training Centre for Education, which operates as part of the faculty I teach in.

Aside from my teaching work, I continually freelance on a wide variety of projects. In the past year I have worked on music videos, concert films, short fiction films, documentaries, awards shows, television pilots and commercials. I consider myself to be a diverse editor with a wide variety of skills including colour grading, motion graphics, DVD production and post-production workflow management.

Recent Productions:
Kubrick Visions — An ongoing project between Elstree Screen Heritage and the University of Hertfordshire. Part of the project is a series of oral history interviews with Kubrick collaborators, friends and family. These have included Christiane Kubrick, Katharina Kubrick-Phelps, Jan Harlan, Sir Ken Adam, Ron Punter, Tony Palmer, Kelvin Pike, Ray Merrin and Julian Senior. I have been a Production Assistant on each shoot so far, and also editor. From October I will be producing and editing all ongoing project work, with a team of students at the University.

The Puffas — A pilot for a children's TV show. I was asked to colour grade this Jersey-based project by the editor, Leanne Young, who is a personal friend of mine. Some before and after shots can be seen as part of my showreel. The pilot has now been commissioned and a full series is being produced.

Shattered Pieces — It's always flattering when a student of mine asks me to be involved with their production. I taught writer/director Aqeel Ahmed during his time at the University of Hertfordshire. After his student film was one of the winners of the Virgin Media Shorts 2008, Aqeel set about making his next short film. I edited and graded the film, which was shot on RED One over two weekends in London. It has since gone on to be accepted, and win awards, at film festivals and has been screened in Cineworld cinemas. Shots from this film can also be seen on my showreel.
